'Colours are the Smiles of Nature’ Leigh Hunt

I began experimenting with colour combinations using painted paper to create flowers for a special occasion as a dedication to a dear friend.

The process of making was very therapeutic, and it worked well as an activity to do around having small children.

This spurred on my enthusiasm. Since then I ran a paper craft workshop for new mums, school children and made decorations for various events including weddings, photoshoots and window dressing.

GET CREATIVE

In light of the current situation I have created some short video’s using basic items that hopefully everyone has! Kids have a go. Some are techniques I have learnt in relation to paperjane paper-crafts, and others are just fun or relaxing activities we have been doing at home.

Stay safe, stay at home. Have fun!

Paper straws are one of the first techniques I learnt, which can be used for creating flower stems.

You can use the straws for many things such as jewellery, marble games and fun characters. For example, Frugal fun for boys and girls or Hello, wonderful.

Have a go!

A fun activity that with a bit of patience and time is very satisfying! We made these for Easter, but can be applied to anything.

You will need masking tape, PVA glue, card and scissors.

This is a very quick idea we had however, it’s all about being inspired and having fun.
Make beautiful floral designs quickly, by trying this at home. Let’s see where it takes you…

If I need to make a card or picture using real flowers fast, I also often use a microwave flower press instead of traditional flower pressing methods. For more info try: pro-flowers.com

Using the same technique of the 3D letters, you can make any shaped Piñata. We tried a giant heart for my daughters virtual birthday party. The best bit is you can pack whatever you like in there. Have a go.

Your could also try making them from balloons. I like this strawberry design from berries.com
